My friend Chantal who is here with Ludovic Lugansk Arthur and Emily to take today's blog devoted to the huge void that can cause the absence of a child for a woman. as she writes so well, there might be a sister, daughter, step-sister, friend, aunt, niece, step-daughter, even a godmother ... this gap persists and moves. We always try to hide, pretend, ignore it, but it's still there. A huge void! I feel so much what she wrote for her live so intensely. Like her, I waited years ending before that famous bridge empty .. This huge void we have in the belly when man has the best hands and we desire to have children with him but could not. This huge gap is impossible to explain and understand for several even to our spouse, close friends and family. This huge gap that I, like Chantal before arriving here and meet two extraordinary people who will fill. This huge void that I felt ever since I have known Lisa and Andrei ... My day today was quite exceptional. I am talking about the day with my children because of weather, was the first full day of rain in two months. Truly disgusting. Wet, cool (18-20C) and water everywhere in the streets! I miss almost 42C of the month August!

This morning, I spent my two hour visit with Elisaveta as usual. It was like always happy to see me and kissed me again all the time. It is very funny. As it rains, we stay inside, so she and I are still in the anteroom of his section, a small room of about 120 square feet where the lockers and the wardrobes of all children and a large sofa, stuffed animals, pillows and a few toys.

Here as everywhere in the orphanage, everything has its place. Lisa has her little closet where she kept her shoes and takes his slippers when inside and vice versa when she goes outside. Some clothing found there as well as outerwear: ; tights, hat and coat, etc..

This morning, as usual, she asked me cookies: "Sil Bissski bou please, please bisski if button". I told him I also made a banana. She immediately said: "balal, balal." She loves bananas. As I had no breakfast, I eat half with her and she loved to share with Mom. Subsequently, the small square carton of orange juice (with the little straw into the hole). I was happy when I did not hear crying when I left at 13:00 ... last night crying had lasted more than 10 minutes after I left. I could see tears in his section with other children who tried to console without success. I was out and it was already dark. It was therefore easy to see inside the orphanage in his room. I was heartbroken. This morning it was much easier to let ...
At 17:00, I went to Andrei who made Legos in his room with Vladimir (the oldest in the orphanage who is 13 years. This too is absolutely adorable. There are so many children here have a certain age and are absolutely adorable and could be adopted by good parents to help them have a future ... Too many people in America and Europe are unaware that these children could fill them and at the request of Nadia at the agency, I am writing on this subject for publication in the next issue of the News-Letter TDH (our adoption agency).

Andrei has left his Legos to come into the anteroom of his section play with me. There seemed to go a little heart-cons because obviously, I mess around with his friend and his Legos. But ultimately, he brought a dog, a book of maps and SpiderMan SpiderMan collectible.

We spent the 2 most beautiful hours together him and me since the 23 days that I know and see! Slowly, I felt closer to me more and more. We do the horse, played hide and seek and ball, there was tickled, drank juice and ate his fines (he was very happy when I pulled out the small bag I had bought the small store near us. He told me love the fines).

I told him I would go for Lisa but he said "no mom, no Lisa." I understood he wanted to just spend quality time with his mom and so I decided not to pick up Lisa. It is true that when she is there, I have two Seper and Andrei automatically fails. And as I see it exclusively in all morning, I agreed not to pick her up and stay with my son.

So we spent a very pleasant two hours and intense. It's like the beginning of a relationship ... We discovered. This discovery is done with the hands but especially the eyes . I see Andrei is falling in love with her mom and that's really incredible feeling. He looks at me with happiness ... as if he really realized that I really am his mom and really felt as if my love for him. Pure joy!

I decided that for the few days remaining, I see the morning and Andrei Elisaveta afternoon. It'll be better this way for both and for me. My son needs his mother ... there is still little that great!

Tomorrow is the dance that the children have prepared for the Director of the orphanage and the staff. I can not wait. It 13heures and try to take pictures and videos. I have a few practices during preview ... the costumes are truly magical!

Thank you all again for your lovely messages of encouragement ... I REALLY can not wait to be back in Montreal and Eastman! I miss my world and I look forward to introducing children into this new world that will be theirs!

existential questions, answers key ...

exactly eight weeks in Ukraine today! The first 5 weeks have passed in Kiev in waiting to find our children and the 3 following Lugansk with children. It seems that these are first 5 weeks so far and that these three weeks here have been so satisfied that they seem much longer. I know my children since 8 / / 9 / 10 and it looks like it a lot much longer! Strange.

My last "Post" a few days ago because the little routine continues and I did not so much to tell ... but some questions received in emails me want to respond in my blog this morning.

How I organize myself since Tom left ?

If you are up to date on my blog, you know that last Saturday, following the decision of the Court, Tom went back to Montreal. He's been there Saturday night and started his new job yesterday. ; As I am in Europe Eastern, in one of the poorest countries in Europe, I must be very careful and not to "tempt fate" and risk my life or my wallet.

My days are busy. When I woke up with my Earl Grey tea in the morning, I answer my emails and / or have my blog and / or put my picture taken yesterday. My driver takes me at 10:45 and took me to the orphanage which is located 6 minutes drive. I'm going straight into the section of Lisa and we spent two hours together, usually only every second but sometimes with other children in his group. Around 12:50 I leave for lunch (it is sad and cries a lot but she likes to eat ... she understands that we will be after lunch). I then fight Andrei kiss just back from school at this time the guys are changing and when I arrive, they are all small in underwear putting away their costumes at school. They are too cute and my son is the best and most beautiful body ... ok ok, I'll come back.

Subsequently, I returned home, a little lunch and back outside to go shopping for clothes for children or for a few groceries or to pick up in the ATM.

The driver resumed at 16:45 am and I spend another 2 hours but this time with 2. They are very nice both as if he knew that Dad was gone and they must be reasonable. Especially Andrei who understands and that takes its role seriously take care of his sister and his mom.

At 19:00, I go directly to the apartment and I Skype with my mother, my in-laws, sisters, etc.. And then sleep.

I do not go just after 19:00 more cautious ... would do little store to go to the bottom of my building to buy milk or bread or to fill my jug of water (water is not drinkable, so there is a pump down and fill my 5-liter jug costs 2 grivnas (25 cents).

The cost of living in Lugansk

Here is a lot cheaper than Kiev (we are 15 hours by train south-east), which was already much cheaper than in Montreal.

U.S. $ 1 equals about 8 grivnas. Since everything here is compared to the U.S. is often divided by 8 for the price. Here are some sample prices:

• A big loaf of bread : 2.5 UAH or 31 cents a

• driver for my 2 trips back to the orphanage: 100 UAH or $ 12.50

• Lunch in a restaurant typical Ukrainian ... Soup, salad cucumbers, onions and tomatoes, a dish of rice and chicken: 37 UAH or $ 4.60.
• My 2 bedroom apartment in downtown, the 13th of a 15-story building, large lounge, large bathroom with large glass shower, kitchenette and large "sun room" vitreous or balcony: 350 UAH per day or $ 44/day.

products and brands purchased

the grocery store, there are few famous brands and labels are almost exclusively Russian. It is often difficult to navigate. J ' I bought yogurt liquid (people drink it a lot here) instead of milk. There are still following brands: Danone, Colgate, Tide (Proctor & Gamble several actually), Dove soap products, Nivea, L'Oreal, Garnier, etc..

Features in Lugansk and / or Ukraine

• The son electric linking high-rise buildings are at the top of buildings and not buried in the ground. It's like the son in the house in NDG!
• Even water pipes (and perhaps even sewage) are above ground in many places.
• Dogs roam everywhere. They belong to nobody and live in the street alone or in packs. Cats also live in the street. There is no SPA and nobody 's in concern. They eat as they can and are fed by some people like me who care. They are not made naturally and breed Who better to best. Very sad.
• People always remove their shoes when they enter a house (same thing when we arrive in a section of the orphanage).
• In my building, one cup of water from midnight to 5:00 am for the save. We must plan and use the bottles if you brush your teeth after that time. I often get caught.
• There is no dryer. I wash my clothes in a tiny machine and dryer on étand metal. This is often dry the next day because my dryer is in the " sun room "and it gets very hot as it is "L" facing south and later in the day, to the west.
• As in Kiev, it is very common to have to use to change the underground side of the street. In the underground there are plenty of shops and snack bars.
• Almost everyone here is bilingual: Russian and Ukrainian! Very few speak English (only one person in three weeks and this is the lady who runs my apartment)

What do I have t- to be done here ... why not return as quickly ?

After the Court, it must wait 10 days for it to come into force and that person otherwise (it is the Law!). So I have my decree of the Court on 5 October. With this piece of paper, one can complete the process so that children get their passports Ukrainian modify registers of births, etc.. We could then go to Kiev (I'm thinking seriously to leave an airplane that will cost not much more expensive but the trip will last 90 minutes instead of 15 hours!). There- bottom is obtained from the Embassy of Canada visas for children and wait for our plane to leave Montreal. We should be back to October 12 (Nat, I should be OK for our first theater play on 14! ).

Children:

Lisa is too small but Andrei understands everything and is quite confident but certainly very worried anyway. I leave it to the orphanage until the departure to Kiev for not the mess up for anything. I could take them for a few days with me here in the apartment. Lugansk but it will be very couraillage final paperwork to do, it's better to leave them there and take them just before leaving.

As is customary, we will organize a Farewell party for children at the orphanage and to celebrate the start Andrei and Lisa. It is I who take care of everything: juice, cakes, cookies and fruit. We may have a clown (idea from Dad) or a magician's Day . I'll take more photos.

It is true that When really believes anything is possible !

So yesterday, after that everything is possible and become official by the Judgement of the Court, we went to speak with the manager to make the final paperwork in coming days ... He was very happy and a little like a father who says his children to someone forever, he wished us good luck and We were told that these children were very lucky to have found parents like us. We then took a picture with him, it's crazy how much he looks like my cousin Andre ... Is this another wink of Mamie Lucille? The date of the court (24 September) was the date of his birthday! Before leaving, we got some pictures of the children when they arrived at the Orphanage few years ago ... It will make them beautiful memories ...!

We then changed and then we went back to pick up children at the orphanage to take him to the photographer to take photos for the passport. Operating as a whole to get a serious figure from Lisa who smiles all the time ... The photographer had some trouble but eventually the reason and make him understand that it was very important that it closes its mouth and be serious. Wait until you see the picture it gave!

Lisa starts to say "cookie if you please" as Dad showed him and Andrei takes very seriously its role as protector father gave him the day before and helps me tremendously with Lisa. When I arrived at 17:00 it was he who went the tried and helped her get dressed for going outside. It was very proud to help Mom!

Dear Dear Andrei and Elisaveta!

Only chestnuts are in bloom ... it's still autumn!

Yesterday was September 24, 2010, a memorable date! The appointment to the court was at 12:00. Arrived at the Court by a radiant sun that we admired the chestnuts for the second times of the year, as in Spring was in full bloom! I told myself that these chestnuts were in bloom again just for our little family has just been born ... which begins its new life!

For Anne Frank, in his Journal , the chestnut symbolized freedom and hope . Unbelievable how you could almost think that these were really there chestnut out of the Court, just for us, just our little family!

is exactly at 12:47 as the Judge delivered the official assessment of your adoption. In the room with us and Natalia our interpreter, were a representative of the department of adoption of Lugansk, counsel for the orphanage and two jurors. When I saw them arrive, as I was not aware that they should be there, I was somewhat worried that these strangers could possibly object to know you and your adoption! Natalia quickly reassured me that they were jurors and that it was mandatory that they are there. Subsequently, they asked to see pictures of you smiling and happy and they could understand that 'They were happy for you to finally find new parents!

We first had to get up in turn to introduce herself, give our address, our employer, occupation, etc.,. Thereafter, the judge described and read the various documents in the file. The judge read at breakneck speed and Natalia was trying to translate everything for us somehow. The stress was quite high and emotions rose to the throat of Mom and Dad.

Hearing the texts composed by describing the orphanage that we had met then we had made the request as you adopt and subsequently visited every day, Mama could not hold back his tears. Natalia reflected how the orphanage was convinced we'd be good parents and that we would give you a good home, etc.. Tears were streaming down my cheeks without stopping ... the emotions were too strong.

Towards the end of the "ceremony" - it really felt like we were at a wedding or something very very special, "the judge asked us to say why they wanted to adopt you. Seeing that j 'had eyes in the water, the judge asked Dad to speak. He also started to have the throat and say thank you to everyone for allowing us to realize our dream by promising to take good care of you. He also had tears streaming down her cheeks. Like mine, they were tears of happiness!

Mom and Dad have so embraced and welcomed us all and wished good luck in our new life. We were very very happy ... we had put our best clothes (les seuls pour dire vrai qui pouvaient être portés pour cet important événement) et que nous avions apportés!

Chers enfants, vous ne comprenez pas exactement tout ce qui se passe dans votre vie en ce moment mais bientôt, vous aurez une toute nouvelle vie. Je sais Andrei que ce qui t'inquiète le plus est la langue que tu ne comprends pas encore mais rappelle toi tes séjours en Italie, tu revenais à l'orphelinat et tu parlais l'italien après à peine un mois.  Le français c'est très près de l'Italien.  Tu apprendras très vite!  Et Papa t'enseignera l'anglais que tu connaîtras rapidement aussi!

Tu rêvais having a family for a very long time and this moment has finally arrived! Your dream and Papa and Mama were crossed to finally become the same! ..

life in a normal family is very different from the orphanage and you may be somewhat disoriented, but this is normal and you will understand very quickly that you have done well to agree to come with us in Montreal and your life will probably be in Lugansk than just memories.

Your sister will need you and I am convinced that your attachment to it will continue to increase and it will become for you a very very important!

Thank you to God, thank you Grandma and Grandma Lucille Anna for organizing all this happiness for your grandchildren and your great grandchildren! Thank you all in Quebec, Ondres, and here in Ukraine for your prayers and encouragement. We know we're very fortunate to have finally met these two extraordinary beings whom you are and you will become in the future!

No time to tell you more, they're going to celebrate with the kids that takes children to Paradise ... indoor amusement center for the rest of the day ... I'll come back with more details and photos.

Brazilian Was Before After

The adventure of a life really begins ...

You do you realize that these children are going through? This is absolutely incredible!

They currently live in a beautiful orphanage, very well maintained and managed. They eat very well (their fill anyway), have several "moms", a bed in a large room shared with friends, a huge playground with many section ... dozens of brothers and sisters ... little cuddle but still ... A healthy climate and peaceful.

In just over ten days after Judge will antériné our desire to adopt these children (the court date is this Friday at 12:00), they leave what they have known better since their birth for it to come with us. They will say goodbye to all their old friends to go into the unknown with two parents who seem very nice and love them but ... Aliens anyway!

You really have an extraordinary character to live it! Love Our Children are real leaves. Despite their short lives, they have already experienced tremendous pain and severe trauma and they will be living another experience quite traumatic. They will leave by train for a journey of more than 15 hours, remain nearly a week in an apartment in Kiev a bit odd, before ending, 12-hour flight later, a place to call home. So many emotions! What a difference! Luckily Mom and Dad are very nice and seems totally "in love" with them!

arrived in Montreal, they will get to know so many unknown unknowns ... new grandparents (Charles and Vera), another grandma (Colette), a new aunt (Amy), and cousins all new. They will also meet all the friends of Dad and Mom ! They will get used to sleeping in another bed in another room, in a new home. ... Even two they will also discover the little cottage at Eastman ... its lake, kayaks, his fire, birds ...

Andrei will quietly move towards the host school. There he will learn French to prepare to join the regular school ... Everything will be in French. It will be somewhat intimidating. Lisa its share will remain with his mother but soon will attend a pre-marternelle one or two days a week, just to keep in touch with small and possibly make new friends.

They no longer hear speak Russian ... except maybe a few times from Grandma Vera but French and English ...

So many emotions they will live these little ones!

Long travel, jet lag painful adaptation at all levels, etc..

Have we done this for them, for us or for us four? Will we be happy all 4 in this new life? Definitely!

We will all live the 4 major changes in our lives and we thank God for all be fighters and winners ... positives , people who can adapt and move on through hardships and come out enriched and Grandits!

You have supported and continued to do throughout this adventure, but believe me, if you challenge still interested, you can continue to do so when we went to Montreal because the simple details will be dizzy and we will overcome surment some interesting challenges!

Another beautiful day with the kids ...

Sunday we rested, we took walks in the city and we started shopping for clothes for the children. In fact, Thomas hates shopping so that we do some shopping but I'm getting a good idea of where to go next week with Natalia. We still bought two pairs of underwear for each of them. Too cute. My little man is very sexy!

By evening we met Chantal and Ludovic who are in adoption process in the same town as us but in another orphanage. Beautiful evening! Yesterday

Monday the children were very happy to see us. Lisa changed visibly every day! She banters once! Andrei is still active and imaginative. It never stops ... except to listen to my ipod. He loves it and seems to particularly enjoy Jean-Pierre Ferland and Edith Piaff! But do not worry, he has time to change!

I lost my daughter who has followed the group ... snif snif. She was too cute with the other kids. It seems to have changed so much since we saw there nearly two weeks at Camp with them.

On a beautiful sunny Saturday ...

On a beautiful sunny Saturday, we're going to see the children as usual at 11:00. This time it was Andrei who pretended to sulk us to get our attention. ; He énormémenet need to be reassured that we continue to love him, even if we leave every day, twice a day. When in the mood, it is clear that it's just for fun and test us. Suddenly, about 45 minutes after our arrival, the children said: "Andrei, the nanny is calling you." It is now gone and with another girl, he returned. ; Shit, he had to make a bad shot. Too bad, it has pained him to leave so quickly but we felt that although there was a good discipline to orphanage and we were going to play with the girl.

Ok ok I'll eventually stop to say but it was still a lovely time. We have played in the slide that his brother was dressed in leaves and branches yesterday. She was particularly good mood as usual, she laughed out loud running everywhere.

She is always so happy when his parents brought him food. We began to make their little boxes fruit juice and still famous tiscuits dry forms of animals. A real treat apparently it.

In 47 children in the same house, it is normal that things are arranged. J love it! Each child has his locker at the end of his section to store and sometimes shoes, sometimes used slippers inside. They have this amazing discipline and nobody tells them. My sister Josée hoods see that! Hein Jo, it might be sending our children Québec internship Ukrainian orphanage?

The small routine settles ... the wonder is still there!

Since yesterday, we moved quietly into our little routine with the children here at Luhans'k. It rises around 8-9am, you relax, you did some washing and have lunch and then left for the orphanage at 10:45. It rises immediately see Elisaveta located mostly at the top alone with a nanny because the other girls are in school and the youngest in the camp.

She is simply adorable. She is still in love with his mom but begins to approach more and more of his dad.

Around 13:00, Andrei comes home from school and we try always see a few minutes to kiss and tell him you love him. It is always very happy.

In the afternoon we went shopping, lunch there is Skype, we do email and we rest.

Natalia left yesterday and will not return until next Thursday for a final medical exam to pass and for trial at the Court on Friday.
